How to Style a Small Flower Vase
I am so excited to team up with my friend Melissa from Polished Habitat on how to style a small flower vase…two ways!
A few weeks ago, I attended a blogger event at Tulsa’s West Elm store. Both Melissa and I picked up this dusty blush multifaceted porcelain vase, which I am obsessed with! The color is perfect for spring. We both had an idea for how to use it, so go check out her site (and while you’re there, sign up for her awesome newsletter) to see how she styles this vase (without flowers) in her home!
Here’s a sneak peek of one of the (five!) ways she’s using it. Isn’t it gorge???
Tips for working with a small vase
When working with a small opening in a vase, my biggest tip is to have some greenery that drapes. It keeps the arrangement from looking top-heavy by bringing the eye down into the container so that it doesn’t look like you have two competing focal points. For this particular arrangement, I used seeded eucalyptus. The green complements the pink perfectly and hangs great! I picked it up for $3 a bunch, so it is a really affordable option as well!
Spring Flower Shopping List:
- 1 stem of hydrangea – $2
- 1/3 bunch of eucalyptus – $1
- 3 tulips – $1.50
- 1/3 bunch of ranunculus – $2
Total floral cost: $6.50!
Below is a video showing how I put this together:
As you can see in the video, I added the hydrangea to the container and then added greenery underneath. Just make sure you cut the stem of the hydrangea short enough for it to rest on the top of the opening. My next step was to nestle three tulips into the hydrangea. You can see how I space it in almost a triangle formation throughout the vase. Next, I add the ranunculus (isn’t it gorgeous?). I space it in between the tulips and one in the center. Lastly, I added a little more greenery throughout the hydrangea to add a little more texture.
Then you have a small arrangement perfect for your spring decor!
